On May 12, 2004; MAGGIE PEYSER, 83, local artist and sculptress, died at NW Hospital of renal failure. She was born August 19, 1920 Margaret Elizabeth Schaefer and later wed Julian Irvin Peyser November 9, 1953. Maggie studied under Freida Sohn, Instructor, Museum of Art. She had been active at the BYKOTA in Towson, JCC in Baltimore City and currently NW Senior Center on Fallstaff Road of which Rodney Cook was her favorite instructor. Maggie's work has been seen on occasion at The Vagabond Theater in Fells Point, where in the early 80's she would help with set painting with JB Johnson along with a few Loyola Invitational shows and the Old Fells Point Gallery which at one time was across from Vagabond Theatre. Preceded by sisters Anita Sokolove, Natalie Gellert, and Charlotte Schaefer and Brothers Adolph, Ernest and Frederick Schaefer. Survived by her daughter Lauren Hudgins and husband Dallas, with grandchildren Dionne Glover, Rachel Hudgins and great-grandchildren Jeffrey, Micaela and Isabella Glover and Leilani Peters; her sister-in-law Irene Fried and nieces and nephews. She will surely be missed by all. Memorial Services will be held at Loring Byers Funeral Directors, Inc., 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, Sunday, May 23, 2 PM.
