Salon owners reach semifinals in award contest

Victoria and Albert Clark, owners of Victoria & Albert Hair Studio, were named semifinalists for a Global Salon Business Award: Beauty Entrepreneur of the Year.

"There were 600 of the best salons in the U.S. nominated, and we reached the semifinal position, which as they put it - pretty amazing," Victoria Clark said. The Clarks received a plaque for their achievement.

The awards program, initiated by Paula Kent Meehan, founder of Redken Laboratories, recognizes the business success and creativity of salon owners around the world. Awards will be presented in London at the Global Salon Business Forum and Awards Ceremony from May 30 to June 1.

Victoria & Albert Hair Studio, which opened in 1974, employs 40 people.

Administrator named to post by state group

Jeanine M. Maclary, office administrator at Columbia-based Davis, Agnor Rapaport & Skalny LLC, has been appointed chairwoman of meetings and events for the board of the Maryland Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.

The organization seeks to improve the quality of management in legal services organizations.
