Today's NCAA women's game

Division I quarterfinal

(with seeds) No. 6 Georgetown (12-4) at No. 3 Maryland (15-4)

Site: Ludwig Field, College Park

Time: 1 p.m.

Outlook: When these two teams met a month ago, Maryland's Delia Cox scored two goals in the first 1:20 and the Terrapins were off to a 13-8 victory. That's somewhat indicative of how the series has gone for the Hoyas as Maryland holds a 13-1 edge in meetings between the two. However at tournament time, all bets are off. The last time the crosstown rivals met in the tournament, the Terps needed a goal in sudden-death overtime to get past Georgetown, 14-13, in the 2001 championship game. Each team took a different route to this year's quarterfinals - the Terps rolled past Temple, 22-4, and the Hoyas nipped Duke, 13-12, in overtime. The Terps, looking for their 14th trip to the final four in 15 years, are led by Tewaaraton Trophy finalist Kelly Coppedge (69 goals, 25 assists), Cox (46, 6) and Acacia Walker (24, 22). The Hoyas, looking for their fourth final-four appearance in five years, are led by Sarah Oliphant (31, 18), Coco Stanwick (11, 27) and defender Michi Ellers, also a Tewaaraton finalist.
