MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Suspended Astros manager Jimy Williams one game and fined him for prolonged arguing and inappropriate conduct in game last Saturday and suspended Pirates manager Lloyd McClendon one game and fined him for inappropriate conduct in game Sunday.

BLUE JAYS: Activated P Bob File from 15-day DL; optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

INDIANS: Placed P Jeff D'Amico on 15-day DL, retroactive to May 11, with lower back strain. Designated P Jack Cressend for assignment. Recalled P Cliff Bartosh from Triple-A Buffalo. Purchased contract of P Matt Miller from Buffalo.

METS: Announced that P Grant Roberts cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

PHILLIES: Placed P Billy Wagner on 15-day DL, retroactive to May 7, with strained left groin. Purchased contract of P Brian Powell from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

REDS: Activated C Jason LaRue from 15-day DL. Optioned C Corky Miller to Triple-A Louisville.

RED SOX: Announced four-year player agreement with Double-A Portland.

USA BASEBALL: Named Marty Scott coach for women's national team.

NBA: Denied Spurs' protest that clock didn't start quickly enough after Lakers G Derek Fisher caught an inbounds pass with 0.4 of a second left in Game 5 of Western Conference semifinal game Thursday night.

RENO (ABA): Named Spencer Haywood coach and GM of player development.

USA BASKETBALL: Added Cavaliers G LeBron James, Knicks G Stephon Marbury, Nets F Richard Jefferson, Suns F Shawn Marion and Suns F Amare Stoudemire to Olympic team today.

WNBA: Announced that Connecticut Sun will host 2005 All-Star Game.
