Baltimore County firefighters reported that one woman died and another woman was injured in an early morning house fire today near Randallstown.

The two-alarm fire -- reported just before 4 a.m. -- occurred in a two-story detached house in the 10700 block of Liberty Road, according to county authorities.

By the time firefighters arrived, the house was completely engulfed in flames, and the dead victim was found on the lawn in front of the house.

County police this afternoon identified the woman as Helen Edmondson, 75. Firefighters said they believe she may have escaped the house through a second-story window.

A woman who was on the first floor of the house when the fire started was taken to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation, fire officials said. A man who was also in the house escaped the fire uninjured.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the fire.
