Margaret M. Howell, 69, nurse, therapist at GBMC

Margaret M. Howell, a nurse at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, died of lung cancer May 5 at Gil- christ Center for Hospice Care in Towson. The Towson resident was 69.

Born Margaret McDorman in Baltimore and raised in Hamilton and Bolton Hill, she was a 1952 graduate of Mount St. Agnes High School. She earned a nursing degree from Mount St. Agnes College and took her nursing training at what is now Mercy Medical Center.

She began working at GBMC in 1966 and was the hospital's enterostomal therapist from 1971 until her retirement in 2001. She continued to work part-time as a nurse until recently.

She enjoyed cooking.

Services were held Monday at Towson Presbyterian Church, where she had been a deacon.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Clewell Howell Jr., a retired attorney; two sons, Clewell Howell III of Towson and David J. Howell of York, Pa.; and two grandsons.
