Jessup contractors win veteran-owned small business award

Richard Vance and Robert C. Sharps of Jessup-based VSA Construction Services LLC have been selected by the Small Business Administration as 2004 National Champions of Veteran-Owned Small Business.

Hector V. Barreto, SBA national administrator, will present the award May 19. In addition, Vance and Sharps will receive the Veteran-Owned Small Business Advocate Award for the Baltimore district office Friday in Woodlawn and the Region III Champion Award for Small Business on May 19 in Orlando, Fla.

VSA Construction Services was founded in 2002. The firm provides services in civil, utility, environmental and general construction. Vance and Sharps successfully lobbied Congress for legislation to facilitate the award of government contracts to service-disabled entrepreneurs.

Columbia broker to handle Mudd Farm disposition

Stephen J. Ferrandi of NAI KLNB Inc. of Columbia has been appointed exclusive broker for the disposition of Mudd Farm in Pomfret, Charles County.

His real estate practice focuses on farmers, landowners and investors who want to sell their land for development.
