Five men were shot - two of them fatally - in two separate incidents in the city last night, police said.

About 10:30 p.m., three men were standing in the 4100 block of Old York Road, near Rose Hill Terrace, when they were shot, reportedly by a man who sped off in a green Ford Expedition, police said.

One man died at the scene, a second was taken to Sinai Hospital and the third, who was shot in a hand, drove himself to Union Memorial Hospital, police said.

Twenty minutes later, two men were standing near Durham and Federal streets in East Baltimore when they were shot by an unknown assailant.

Police said one man died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center and the other was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Names of the victims and conditions of the wounded were not known last night.
