Long View Nursing Home to hold Spring Fling

Long View Nursing Home will observe National Nursing Home Week next week with public activities focusing on "Embracing Our Heritage."

Also, a Spring Fling and Mother's Day sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the lobby at 3332 Main St., Manchester.

Spring Fling will feature a quilt raffle, baked goods, wreaths, crafts, Mother's Day gifts and T-shirts, fresh flowers, plants and hanging baskets.

An art exhibit will be held Monday. Julia Berwager will speak at 1:30 p.m.

A tea garden party will be held Tuesday with entertainment by Jim Thomson at 1:30 p.m.

A fashion show will be held at 1:30 p.m. May 12 featuring evening attire, wedding gowns, tropical attire and 1950s and 1970s period dress. A fashion sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 13.

An ice cream social with entertainment will be held at 1:30 p.m. May 14.

Lebanon Lodge Masons to celebrate 125th year

Lebanon Lodge 175 A.F. and A.M. Masons will celebrate its 125th anniversary May 14 with a ceremony that will include Grand Master of Maryland John A. Young Jr. and other Grand Lodge officers.

Members, their families and invited guests will participate in the celebration.

The lodge originated in 1856, but gave up its charter in 1878. The charter was regained in 1879 as Lebanon Lodge 175.

The group met at the Odd Fellows Hall in Manchester until 1963, when the lodge built a home at 3129 Main St. The lodge meets the first and third Fridays of the month.

St. Paul's church offers senior fellowship

St. Paul's Independent Church of Millers will hold senior fellowship from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays in the church hall starting today.

Senior citizens can enjoy cards, games and live music by Paul Neal and Friends. Refreshments will be available.

The basics of e-mail to be taught at library

North Carroll branch library, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount, will offer:

Family Story Time for all ages (3 and younger must be with an adult) at 10 a.m. today and tomorrow.

The North Carroll Book Discussion Group for ages 9 to 12 at 6:45 p.m. Monday to discuss Number the Stars by Lois Lowry.

"E-mail Basics" for adults at 2 p.m. Monday. The class is limited to three people. Registration is required.

Lineboro firefighters name officers for 2004

The Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department has announced officers for 2004.

Administrative officers are: David Dickmyer, president; Chuck Myers, first vice president; Jack Stone, second vice president; Michael Buckley, secretary, and Dawn Ecker, assistant; Trena Hossler, financial secretary; Harry Fourhman, treasurer, Amy Furhman, assistant.

Property managers are Levere Kopp, Douglas Dorer, John Tawes, John Krebs and Chuck Myers. Executive Committee members are Dave Green and Dave Marshall.

Chaplain is John C. Haney and historian is James Buckley.

Fire officers are: Robert S. Utz, fire chief; Robert Sterner, first assistant chief; Michael Buckley, second assistant chief; Douglas Dorer, captain; Linas Saurusaitis, first lieutenant; Kevin Dickmyer, second lieutenant.

Emergency medical services officers are: Michael T. Naylor, captain; James R. Weiglein, lieutenant.

Fire police officers are: Douglas Patterson, captain; David Vickers, lieutenant.
