ALICE SAFFELL CHRISTHILF, born in 1906, mother, educator and author, died on April 16, 2004 at Charlestown Retirement. She had her B.S. degree from Towson University and taught elementary school for 36 years. She retired in 1974. She married Ralph M. Sipes, who died tragically of encephalitis before the birth of her son. Later, she married Edward Wallace Christhilf, a high school friend, to whom she was happily married 58 years. Mrs Christhilf is survived by her son and his wife, Ralph and Beryl Sipes of Canberra, Australia, two grandsons, Paul and Geoffrey Sipes and four great-granddaughters, also sister-in-laws Isabelle Cullison and Betty Christhilf and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were by Eline Funeral Home. Services were held on April 23.
