May 1 Red Cross ball to benefit county disaster relief fund

Maryland first lady Kendel Ehrlich will serve as the honorary host for the seventh annual "Celebrate American Spirit" Clara Barton Ball at 7 p.m. May 1. The event will be held at the Sheraton Barcelo Hotel in Annapolis and will benefit the American Red Cross of Anne Arundel County.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner, dancing and a live auction will follow. Robert H. Campbell Jr. of Robert H. Campbell and Associates LLC will conduct the live auction. Entertainment will be provided by InnerFace. All proceeds will go to the Anne Arundel County Disaster Relief Fund to help victims of fires, floods and storms. Information: 410-674-3110.

Chamber of commerces mixer slated for May 13

Robert Andrew -- The Salon & Spa will be the host of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, West Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce and the Crofton Chamber of Commerce Signature Mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 13.

There will be salon and spa tours, food and beverage stations, vendor demonstrations, free gifts, a performance by the Washington Redskins cheerleaders and other prizes.

The cost is $20 for chamber members in advance, $25 at the door and $30 for nonmembers. Information: 410-268-7676.
