EDITH "Aunt Edie" GARFINK, 95 of Ocean Pines died Friday, April 23, 2004 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. Born in Hamilton, Canada, she lived in Baltimore for over 60 years before moving to Ocean Pines in November 2002. She attended the Community Church at Ocean Pines. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph "Skelly" Garfink in 1965 and her daughter Marilyn Miller De Hoff in 1976. Mrs. Garfink was a longtime member of the Variety Club Women tent# 19 and a volunteer of the Jewish Armed Services Veterans at Perry Point Hospital. During WWII, as a devoted volunteer, she drove a truck for the American Red Cross. She attributed her long life to coffee and cigarettes. She did her own banking, cooking, shopping and drove a car until March 2002. Her favorite thing was going out and socializing. She is survived by two grandchildren Edie De Hoff Brennan and her husband Jim Adcock and Kristy De Hoff Mc Donald of Ocean Pines and four great-grandchildren Amy Brennan and her husband Ron Ohringer and Marilyn, Amber and Katrina Mc Donald and two great-great-grandsons Casey Ryan Ohringer and Derek James Ohringer. There are several nieces and nephews, most importantly John J. Miller, Jr. who lived with her in Towson for many years. Friends may call at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin on Friday, April 30, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM where a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private. The Rev. Dr. Thomas Mc Kelvey will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Church at Ocean Pines 11227 Racetrack RD Berlin, MD 21811 or to the Ocean Pines Players Scholarship Fund c/o Herb Mitnick 15 Mist Flower RD Ocean Pines, MD 21811.
