AACC summer session offers credit courses for 6, 8 or 11 weeks

Anne Arundel Community College will offer almost 300 credit courses for its summer session.

AACC provides six-, eight- and 11-week sessions. Six-week sessions meet May 24 to July 1 and July 6 to Aug. 12. Eight-week sessions are May 24 to July 18 and June 21 to Aug. 11. The 11-week session is May 24 to Aug. 4. The Weekend College runs May 24 to July 18.

Participants can register for classes at the Student Services Center on the Arnold campus; AACC at Arundel Mills, 7009 Arundel Mills Circle; the Glen Burnie Town Center; Arundel Center North, second floor; or the Fort Meade Army Education Center, Building 8601, on Zimborski Avenue.

Severn Athletic Club to give $500 scholarships

The Severn Athletic Club has announced the 2004 Severn Athletic Club Scholarship.

The SAC will award one or more $500 scholarships to high school seniors who:

Participated in the youth sports programs at SAC;

Continued to play inter-scholastic sports throughout their four years in high school.

The primary criteria for determining scholarship winners are academic achievement, community service and extracurricular activities. Athletic achievements will be secondary criteria.

Applications will be available at Archbishop Spalding High School, Glen Burnie High School, Meade High School and Old Mill High School. Information: 410-969-7148.

Summer youth program for dancers offered at AACC

Young dancers can learn about their art in a two-week intensive summer program with a festive atmosphere at Anne Arundel Community College.

"Youth Dance Festival" covers a variety of styles and techniques in a noncompetitive learning environment. Styles include ballet, modern, jazz/hip hop, Irish dance, Pilates and music for dancers.

There are two age groups. Ages 8 to 11 enroll in section 301 and ages 12 to 16 in section 302. Both meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 6 to 16. The cost is $360. Registration is under way.
