William Bachelor Rush, 79, electrician, veteran

William Bachelor Rush, a retired electrician, died Wednesday of cancer at Ruxton Health and Rehabilitation Center of Pikesville. The Arnold resident was 79.

Born in Baltimore and raised on Hollins Street, he was a 1942 graduate of City College.

He enlisted in the Army during World War II and was a mechanic on fighter planes and a radio operator.

Mr. Rush worked as an electrician for 55 years, was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union and helped wire numerous office buildings in downtown Baltimore. He worked for Enterprise Electric Co., among other employers.

His wife of 55 years, Edna Virginia Spurrier, died in 2000.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. May 16 at Severna Park United Methodist Church, where he was a member.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Regensburg of Pikesville.
