Suddenly, on April 20, 2004, HERMAN B. MILLER, 75, life-long resident of Frederick; beloved husband of Shirley Virginia (Jones) Miller, his wife of 53 years. He is also survived by his children, Dr. Robert Miller and wife Sharon, of Annapolis, MD; Regina Miller Truitt and husband Dr. Ken Truitt, of Short HIlls, NJ; and Dr. Marcie Miller Lerner and husband Jeff, of Montgomery Village, MD. He also leaves three grandchildren, Derek and Sarah Miller, and Julia Truitt. He was the brother of Rose Friedman, Judith Breiterman and Deborah Wohlberg and the late Martin Miller and Saul Miller. Born August 6, 1928, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Samuel and Regina Miller. Mr. Miller was active in many civic organizations, including memberships in the Frederick Rotary Chapter, the American Legion, the Elks Club, and many others. He was a charter member of the United Democratic Club, and was a past president of Beth Shalom Congregation. As a teenager, he was an active volunteer in United Fire Company, Number 3, and later became president of the company. He was a Korean War Veteran, and served in the army for several years. Mr. Miller began law school at age 29, attending the University of Baltimore as a night student, commuting to Baltimore daily. He retired from State Farm Insurance Company after 28 years. His last position was legislative liason for Maryland. He also worked as a District Court Commisioner in Frederick for many years. Funeral Services will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home; Thursday, at 3 P.M.; 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick; burial at Resthaven. Shiva will be held at the family home; Frederick on Thursday and Sunday evenings at 7 P.M. Memorial contributions may be sent to Beth Shalom Congregation, 1011 N. Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
