Glen Burnie man killed after pickup flips over

April 20, 2004

A 40-year-old Glen Burnie man was killed late Saturday after his pickup truck crossed the grass median on Route 32 east of Great Star Drive in Columbia, hit a guardrail, flipped over and caught fire, Howard County police said.

Michael Richard Lane Jr. of the 1000 block of Cayer Drive was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Lane was apparently driving west on the highway about 11:20 p.m. when his Ford pickup went over the median, across the eastbound lanes and over the guardrail, coming to rest on its roof in a shallow ravine.
