Two Baltimore men slain in separate incidents

April 19, 2004|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Two men became victims of homicide yesterday in separate incidents -- one fatally stabbed on the driveway of a central city apartment building, the other shot after leaving a North Baltimore bar, city police reported.

The latest slaying occurred about 6:45 p.m. as two men were arguing on the driveway leading to the parking lot of Johnston Square Apartments in the 1200 block of Greenmount Ave. One stabbed the other in the chest with an unknown weapon, witnesses told homicide Detective Kevin Hagan.

The victim, an East Baltimore man in his mid-40s whose name was withheld pending notification of family members, died 30 minutes later at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Hagan said. Neither man resided in the apartment building, he said.

Early yesterday, a 28-year-old was fatally shot in the 4600 block of York Road after leaving a nearby bar. A 25-year-old man was grazed by a bullet in the same incident, police said.

Jeruan Doles of the 1300 block of Winston Ave. was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital shortly after the 2 a.m. shooting.

Detectives said they were trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information about either case is urged to call the homicide squad at 410-396- 2100.
