Seminars planned on reverse mortgages for senior citizens

BankAnnapolis will offer a series of free seminars on reverse mortgages that will be held throughout the Annapolis and Kent Island areas.

With a reverse mortgage, seniors age 62 and older can use the equity in their home to receive cash from a lender while retaining ownership of their home. The seminars will explain how a reverse mortgage works and take participants through the application process.

The dates and places for the seminars are:

9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Chevy's restaurant, 2430 Soloman's Island Road, Annapolis.

9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Woodfire restaurant, Park Plaza Shopping Center, Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.

9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. April 27, American Legion Post 278, 800 Romancoke Road, Stevensville.

Computer classes offered on operation, networking

Computer MD, a computer networking and consulting firm, will sponsor a series of seminars on computer operation and networking this month and next. The "Computers Demystified" sessions are tailored to participants' needs and questions on computers. Class attendees provide topics, which the classroom leader will address during each session.

Classes scheduled are:

Noon to 2 p.m. April 27.

Noon to 2 p.m. May 4.

Noon to 2 p.m. May 26.

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 20.

Seminars will be at Computer MD's offices in Odenton, 1223 Annapolis Road, Suite A. Class sizes are held to six participants. Each seminar costs $50. Information: 410-533-6890.

Carrol's Creek Cafe event to benefit arts foundation

Carrol's Creek Cafe, an Annapolis landmark restaurant, will celebrate its reopening with a benefit for the arts.

"Arts a la Carte" for the Cultural Arts Foundation will be held at 5 p.m. April 27 at the cafe, 410 Severn Ave., Annapolis. There will be a sampling of new menu items and an opportunity to toast the reopening and the renovated waterfront dining room, raw bar and lounge.

Cost is a $25 contribution to the Cultural Arts Foundation. Space is limited, please register. Information: 410-263-8102.
