On Wednesday, April 14, 2004, ESTHER BLANKMAN BOMSTEIN BASKIN, died in Boca Raton, Florida with her children by her side. The second daughter of Julius and Fannie Blankman, Esther was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 16, 1915. She was just shy of her 89th birthday when she died. In October, 1935, Esther was married to Solomon Bomstein, also of Baltimore, Maryland. They had two children, Eileen Susan and Howard Jay Saul. Solomon died suddenly in December, 1948 leaving Esther a widow with very young children. In 1957, Esther opened her own beauty shop in Hyattsville, Maryland, which she owned and operated until 1969. In 1972, she married Emanuel Baskin and retired in Florida. She is survived by her daughter Eileen Gottlieb and her husband David, of Delray Beach, Florida; grandchildren Rory and Noah Rubin and Andy Gottlieb; her son, Howard Bomstein and his wife Polly, of Washington, DC. and their children, Schafer, Eleanor and Caroline; as well as nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law, Walter Wolman. She is preceded in death by her sisters Florence Eisen, Farah Wolman and Sophie Kline. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 A.M., Sunday, April 18, 2004 at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Adelphi, Maryland. Esther's family will be receiving family and friends at the home of Howard and Polly Bomstein from 1 to 8 P.M. this Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, Washington, DC., or a charity of your choice.
