Blue Jays update
Toronto has had a rough start, going 3-6 in its first three series against Detroit, Boston and Detroit again. The Orioles caught a break by missing last year's Cy Young Award winner, Roy Halladay, who went the distance in yesterday's 11-0 victory in Detroit. The Blue Jays had 12 hits in the victory, but coming in, their bats had been cold. They entered yesterday ranked second to last in the American League in batting, at .227, and second-to-last in runs scored with 31. Carlos Delgado has two home runs, but he's hitting .152. Vernon Wells had two hits yesterday, raising his average to .250. Riley had two superb five-inning starts against the Blue Jays in September. The Orioles will see two of their former pitchers in the final two games. Towers makes his 2004 debut tomorrow, and Hentgen takes the mound Sunday.
