Charles H. Tames Jr., 68, life insurance agent

Charles H. Tames Jr., a life insurance agent and active member of the McDonogh School alumni association, died of heart disease April 7 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. The Cockeysville resident was 68.

Known as Bucky, he was born in Baltimore and raised in Hamilton and Reisterstown. A 1954 graduate of McDonogh, he had served as alumni president and on the school's board of trustees. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he belonged to Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

He served in the Air Force Reserves.

Mr. Tames sold life insurance with National Life of Vermont, and had offices in downtown Baltimore and Towson. He retired five years ago.

Services were held Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife of more than 40 years, the former Diana Farlow; a son, Charles H. Tames III of Abingdon; a daughter, Patricia Ridgley of Reisterstown; a brother, Robert G. Tames of Bishopville, S.C.; and four grandchildren.
