Cox, Sr., Ernest E.

On Good Friday, April 9, 2004, ERNEST E. COX, SR., 89, formerly of Glen Burnie, MD, was called home to be with his heavenly father. He was the devoted husband of Lillian Delores Cox who preceded him in death three months earlier on January 1, 2004. They were married 68 years. He was the loving father of two children, a daughter, Diane Horseman, of Glen Burnie, MD who preceded her parents in death, and a son, Ernest Cox, Jr., of Chester, VA. Pop-pop was a doting grandfather of eight; John, Jeff and Jason Cox, David and Sean Hare and Kimberly Parks, Brianna and Brandon Lee, he considered as his adopted grandchildren. He was blessed with ten great-grandchildren; John Allen Cox, Brandon and Spencer Hare, Mallory and Shelby Cox, Savannah and Dakota Cox, Adam and Andrew Parks and Casey Villers. Pop was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Linthicum, MD. For the last several years he has resided in Chester, VA with his son's family. Pop is reunited in heaven with his darling wife, Delores, and daughter, Diane, his brother, Lieutenant Colonel Luther Cox and his parents Ara and Henry Cox. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his devoted son, Ernie, Jr. and his wife Diane, his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sister Pauline Manning and sister-in-law, Jeanine Cox, of Orlando, FL. He will be remembered for his generous heart, gentle spirit and love for others that he gave so freely. His family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Home, P.A., 1 Second Avenue S. W. (at Crain Hwy), Glen Burnie, on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, at 11 A.M. in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Meadowridge Memorial Park.
