Frances Ann Clifford, 51, official of plant foods firm

April 09, 2004

Frances Ann Clifford, vice president and general manager of a plant foods and vitamins supply business in Hunt Valley, died of cancer April 2 at Franklin Square Hospital Center. The Perry Hall resident was 51.

Born in Baltimore, she was a graduate of Northern High School.

She worked for Plantabbs Products, a division of Tango Industries Ltd., for three decades, rising from temporary worker to top-tier manager. She was a member of the Pioneer Camellia Society and the International Waterlily and Water Gardening Society.

A brother, John Reiber of Baltimore, died two days before her -- also of cancer and at Franklin Square -- and a combined funeral Mass was offered for them Tuesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Govans.

Mrs. Clifford, who attended St. Mary, had converted to Catholicism this year with her 32-year-old son, Donovan Clifford of Bel Air.

She is also survived by her husband of 33 years, Christopher Clifford; her parents, William and Frances Reiber of Baltimore; and three brothers, George Reiber, William Reiber Jr. and Clyde Reiber, and two sisters, Stella Brown and Barbara Karayinopulos, all of the Baltimore area. Another brother, Frank Reiber, died in 2002.
