Storytelling at Hampton

A unique storytelling event is taking place at the Hampton Mansion in Towson Sunday. Visitors of all ages can listen as Meliss Bunce shares tales that the children who lived in the Georgian mansion from 1790 to 1948 heard and enjoyed. Bunce will present stories by Homer, Shakespeare and Dickens. The program is appropriate for ages 7 and up, as well as adults.

The event takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hampton National Historic Site, 535 Hampton Lane, Towson. Free. Call 410-823-1309.

Astronomy event

Take a gander at the night sky and learn to identify some of the distant stars at the "Community Observing Night" event Saturday at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold. The free night-time event is sponsored by the AACC Astronomy Club. Visitors may bring telescopes or binoculars, or use equipment from the college.

The event takes place from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Astronomy Building, south side of parking lot A, 101 College Parkway, Arnold. Free. Call 410-798-6625.

Comedy show

He's a little wacky. A bit of a character. And every bit the vaudevillian he claims to be. Spats the Lost Vaudevillian brings his family comedy show to several Baltimore County Public Library branches throughout April and May.

If you love physical comedy, catch Spats' slapstick act at the Cockeysville Branch April 17, at the Woodlawn Branch April 20, the Arbutus Branch April 21, the North Point Branch April 25, and the Pikesville, Randallstown and Rosedale branches throughout May.

Spats, aka Paul Hadfield, juggles eggs, unicycles, ladder-walks, spins ropes and cracks joke after joke. Spats' show, which celebrates the traveling American road show, is appropriate for all ages.
