WINE OF THE WEEK

April 07, 2004|By Michael Dresser

2002 Pierre Sparr Pinot Blanc Reserve, Alsace ($12). This dry but very fruity French white wine delivers a boatload of flavor: spices, honey, baked apple, orange and melon, to name a few. That's a fair amount of complexity for such a moderately priced wine. It should pair up well with peppery Asian food, substantial seafood such as salmon or a crispy fried chicken with a spicy crust.
