Guard is stabbed at Howard college

A Howard Community College security guard was stabbed in the head as she was reporting to work yesterday afternoon on the Columbia campus.

The attack occurred about 4 p.m. in a main campus building, college and police officials said.

After stabbing the woman several times, the attacker escaped in a car, police said.

Injuries to the woman, 26, were reported as not life-threatening.

Authorities said they were searching for a suspect last night, Gilbert Lee Redmond Jr., 29, who was identified as a former boyfriend of the victim.
