North Arundel offers screenings, lectures and support groups

North Arundel Hospital will offer the following screenings and educational exhibits on its main campus and at other locations:

Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., blood pressure screenings, main lobby.

Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., cancer risk assessment screenings, first floor, Tate Cancer Center.

April 8, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., stroke support group meets to discuss stroke recovery and prevention, third floor, Dr. Constantine Padussis Conference Center.

April 8, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., cancer talk lecture. Reservations. 410-553-8129.

April 14, 8:30 a.m. to noon, blood pressure screenings, Harundale Presbyterian Church, Eastway and Guilford Road, Glen Burnie.

Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., neck and shoulder massages and information about the benefits of massage therapy.

Monday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., information on arthritis and joint replacement; 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., blood pressure screenings; and 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., story time for children.

April 6, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., foot screenings.

April 7, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., a representative for the county Sexual Assault Crisis Center will offer information and answer questions.

April 8, 10 a.m. to noon, back screenings.

April 12, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., blood pressure screenings.

April 13, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., foot screenings.

April 14, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., a discussion on diabetes, diet and lifestyle changes; 9 a.m. to noon, cholesterol screenings.

April 15, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., blood pressure and lung capacity screenings; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., blood pressure screenings.

April 19, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., county Department of Aging representative will offer information about the agency and answer questions.

April 20, 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., foot screenings.

April 21, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., blood pressure screening.

April 26, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., blood pressure screenings.

April 27, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., blood pressure screenings.

April 28, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., a representative for the county Sexual Assault Crisis Center will offer information and answer questions.

Medical center operating free campus shuttle

Anne Arundel Medical Center will operate a free campus shuttle service from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. During main operating hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the shuttles will travel the entire campus, with stops at the front door of the Acute Care Pavilion, the Sajak Pavilion entrance, the Acute Care Pavilion Garage entrance and the Emergency Department Entrance.

From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., the shuttle will offer a condensed service for early-morning patients and visitors, and will take employees to their work area from the designated parking areas. During this time, the shuttle will travel among the Sajak parking facilities and the Acute Care Pavilion and the Clatanoff Pavilion entrance of the Acute Care garage entrance circle, with a stop at the front door of the Sajak Pavilion.

The shuttle service is expected to reach each stop every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and every 20 minutes the remainder of the day. www.aahs. org.

Crime avoidance training taught by Red Cross

The American Red Cross of Central Maryland offers crime avoidance training, interactive training that focuses on helping people take responsibility for their safety.

The class covers security awareness, tough-target strategies, safety on the move, using an automated teller machine and responding to threatening situations. Instructors will come to a facility, group or organization at a time that is convenient for the group.
