Navy routs Army, 18-10, as nine score

6-0 second quarter helps Mids go to 5-0 in Patriot

Nine men scored for ninth-ranked Navy, and the Midshipmen improved to 6-1 with an 18-10 victory over No. 11 Army in West Point, N.Y.

The Mids broke a 4-4 tie by scoring 10 straight goals. Chris Pieczonka won 18 of 24 faceoffs for Navy, which improved to 5-0 in the Patriot League with its second-highest scoring output of the season.

Ian Dingman, Jon Birsner and Joe Bossi scored three goals apiece for the Midshipmen and three others scored twice each. Dingman and Birsner each added three assists.

Navy scored six times and held Army scoreless in a decisive second quarter in which the Mids extended a 5-4 lead to 11-4. They led 16-6 at the end of three.

Pieczonka also grabbed 11 ground balls for Navy, which won 61 ground balls to Army's 35. Navy outshot the Black Knights 55-34 and won 22 of 32 faceoffs.

Jim Wagner led Army (4-2, 1-1) with three goals.
