Bon Secours sets retreats, programs on spirituality

Bon Secours Spiritual Center in Marriottsville is offering the following programs that are open to the community:

Holy Week Journey with Diarmuid O'Murchu. An eight-day retreat beginning at 5 p.m. April 4 and ending at 10 a.m. April 11. Activities include liturgies for Holy Week, Easter Sunday Eucharist, small-group meetings, and discussions on death and resurrection.

O'Murchu is an author and a priest and social psychologist with the Sacred Heart Missionary Congregation.

The cost is $350, including accommodations at the center. Deadline for registration is tomorrow.

Dances of Universal Peace with Richard Nur-al-Haqq Martin. From 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Meditations in movement inspired by Samuel Lewis will use the body, mind and spirit. The cost is a donation.

Discerning the Call of God's Love - An Ignation Directed Retreat. From 5 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. April 4. Martha Campbell and Margaret Connor will lead this weekend focusing on the wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Experience with extended periods of silence and solitude is recommended. Participants should take a Bible and notebook. The cost is $195.

Divine Relationships with Stephen McDonnell. From 5 p.m. April 16 to 1 p.m. April 18. This retreat offers a chance to heal, restore and create better relationships. Those in recovery from trauma, addictions and codependency are welcome. The cost is $185.

Voluntary Simplicity Workshop with Marney Bruce, Lena Rotenberg and Alyson Walker. From 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 17. Participants will explore motivations for pursuing a simpler lifestyle; gain insight on their beliefs and practices relating to time, money and clutter; and learn how a person's choices affect the community and world. The cost is $45.

Opening to God - A Women's Weekend Retreat with Hildegard of Bingen. From 5 p.m. April 23 to 3 p.m. April 25. Martha Campbell and Alicia Conklin-Wood will discuss the work of the 12th-century mystic, poet, playwright, composer, scientist, practitioner of herbal medicine and Benedictine abbess. The cost is $185.

Spirituality of Gardening - Tilling One's Soil, Nourishing One's Soul. From 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 24. Jeanne Evans will help participants "dig" into their inner landscape and cultivate wisdom while "reading" nature. The cost is $45.
