Finding the latest ratings on stocks

On The Web

Your Money

March 28, 2004|By John M. Moran, The Hartford Courant

Every business day, there's no shortage of analysts offering opinions on individual stocks. But finding out who's recommending what is a chore.

Now there's a one-stop solution: www.newratings.com.

The Web site gathers the latest stock-rating information from 80 investment banks and research firms and posts it instantly. Results are archived. Listings are searchable by company and ticker symbol.

In addition to changes in ratings - an upgrade to "buy" from "hold," for example - the site usually provides a summary of the analyst's rationale for the shift. Separate "macro alerts" present opinions about entire industry sectors and the whole economy.

You still may not know whose advice to take, but New Ratings at least gives you an express lane to the options.
