Recher reggae

Legendary reggae act Toots and the Maytals performs tonight at the Recher Theatre.

Fronted by Jamaican-born singer Frederick "Toots" Hibbert, the band will headline the show after Eastern Standard Time comes correct.

Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for those over 21 and $23 for those under 21.

Underground hip-hop

Definitive Jux Records artists will storm the Ottobar tonight.

Murs, RJD2 and C-Rayz Walz are a few of the acts scheduled to perform during the label's newest showcase of underground hip-hop.

Doors open at 8 p.m. for this all-ages show. Tickets are $16.

Heaven and hell

Ultraworld Productions presents its Heaven and Hell party Saturday at Sonar.

DJs Chris Fortier and Sean Cusick will rock the boards in a heaven-themed room while Adam T. Rush and British mixmasters Dom & Roland spin sets in the club's "devil's playground" lounge.

Themed costumes are encouraged.

Doors open about 10 p.m. Tickets are $8 before 10:30 p.m. and $13 after 10:30 p.m.

Dream Theater

Music nerd metalheads rejoice: Dream Theater will rock Monday at the 9:30 Club.
