Frances M. Sauer, 46, math, English teacher

Frances M. Sauer, a former teacher and Baltimore Highlands resident, died of a heart ailment Wednesday at a hospital in Cape Coral, Fla. She was 46.

Born Frances Meinecke in Baltimore and raised in Lansdowne, she graduated from Lansdowne High School and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

She taught mathematics and English at Catonsville Community College and UMBC. She also was a Sunday school teacher at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church in Linthicum.

Mrs. Sauer moved to Binghamton, N.Y., in 1994, and since the late 1990s had lived in Cape Coral, where she taught students preparing for the General Education Development diploma.

She enjoyed dancing, music and crafts.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery in Cape Coral.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Dr. Mark Sauer, an anesthesiologist; her mother, Beverly Meinecke of Finksburg; three brothers, John Meinecke and William Meinecke Jr., both of Baltimore, and Patrick Meinecke of Finksburg; and a sister, Barbara Meinecke of Baltimore.
