Wilmer Eye Institute marks opening of Howard Co. office

The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins held a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month to mark the opening of its first satellite office in Howard County.

The new 3,000-square-foot office at 10700 Charter Drive in Columbia has five examination rooms, a retinal laser, modern testing capabilities and an in-house optical shop. The office opened its doors Jan. 26.

Routine examinations and general eye care for all ages are offered in addition to diagnosis of complex eye problems, including diseases of the retina, cornea and cataracts. Three physicians, a general ophthalmologist, a pediatric ophthalmologist and a retinal specialist are on staff.

Wilmer Eye Institute is based at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, with satellite offices at the Bayview Medical Center in East Baltimore, Greenspring Station, Odenton, White Marsh and Frederick.

Moms Inc. group meets on second Tuesdays

Moms Inc., a support and networking group for mothers who have a home-based business or would like to start one, will meet at 10 a.m. April 13, and on the second Tuesday of each month, at Linden Linthicum Methodist Church, 12101 Linden Linthicum Lane, Clarksville.

Public relations consultant to hold publicity workshop

Natalie Harvey, a public relations consultant and former neighborhood correspondent for The Sun in Howard County, will offer a workshop on "Preventing Publicity Pitfalls" from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 7 at Slayton House in the Wilde Lake Village Center, Columbia.
