Marie `Honey' Connolly, 85, homemaker

Marie "Honey" Connolly, a homemaker, died of complications from a hematoma on the brain and other ailments at Frederick Villa Nursing Center in Catonsville. A resident of Magnolia Manor in Catonsville, she was 85.

A Woodlawn native, Marie Kleff attended Catonsville High School. In 1935, she married Robert W. Connolly Sr. The couple lived in Woodlawn for most of their marriage, which lasted 50 years before his death.

She was a homemaker, taking on the role of "room mother" for her children's elementary school classes and volunteering for their other activities.

"Her essence was that family," said a son-in-law, Kenneth Birnie of Finksburg.

She worked in the 1950s as a cafeteria aide at Featherbed Elementary School in Woodlawn and in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a Baltimore County school bus driver.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Loring Byers Funeral Home in Randallstown.

Survivors include a son, Robert W. "Bill" Connolly Jr. of Woodlawn; two daughters, Stevie Isaac of Eldersburg and Sharon Birnie of Finksburg; five grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
