Blast tonight

Pro Soccer

March 21, 2004|By Sandra McKee

Matchup: Blast (23-9) vs. Monterrey Fury (6-24)

Site: Arena Monterrey (Mexico)

Time: 7:35

Radio: WCBM (680 AM)

Outlook: The Fury, which came into the league this season, has struggled, but its record plummeted more last week when the league forced it to forfeit four games - two to Cleveland and one each to Philadelphia and St. Louis - for using three illegal players. Well out of the playoff race, Monterrey can still act as a spoiler in the Blast's effort to secure the best overall record in the regular season and home-field advantage in the playoffs that goes with it. The Blast goes into tonight's game off a long day of travel. This morning, the team left San Diego, where it played last night, and was expected to clear customs this afternoon, just hours before this evening's game. Neither the Blast nor Monterrey reports any injuries.
