Bel Air marketing effort launches town Web site

The recent launch of Bel Air's Web site - www.downtownbel air.com - marks the culmination of a 12-month marketing campaign to showcase the town's business area. The effort is geared toward sustaining the county seat's business community, attracting new business and improving public awareness of Bel Air's small-town environment, according to officials.

The Downtown Bel Air Revitalization Alliance, a nonprofit volunteer organization, working with town officials, used $30,000 from a state Community Legacy grant to finance the marketing effort. The Piccirilli Group, a Bel Air advertising company, was hired to develop it.

"The Web site provides information about downtown Bel Air, such as seasonal and year-round events, a town guide, contact information and business opportunities," said Downtown Manager Jim Welch. "The site is designed to provide information that can be used by prospective businesses, alliance members, residents and ... visitors."
