Paul D. Ashburn Jr., 48, project manager

Paul David Ashburn Jr., a project manager for the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain, died of complications from cancer and a heart attack Saturday at his home in Lebanon, Tenn. The former Cockeysville resident was 48.

Born in Baltimore and raised in Cockeysville and Phoenix, he was a 1973 Loyola High School graduate. He earned a business degree from the University of Baltimore.

He worked at L.H. Cranston & Sons in Timonium, a mechanical and electrical engineering company; the McCormick spice company's construction division; and the Sizzler restaurant chain before moving to Lebanon eight years ago.

Mr. Ashburn enjoyed gardening and steaming crabs.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at noon today at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Mount Juliet, Tenn., where he was a member.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, the former Liza Roach; his parents, Paul David and Alberta Helfrich Ashburn of Houston; and a brother, Christopher Ashburn of Portland, Ore.
