Methodist Church to honor citizens at March 27 event

Mount Zion United Methodist Church will honor several local citizens as well as founders William Eastep and Cornelia "Pinkney" Pratt at the "Unity in the Community" ceremony at 2 p.m. March 27 at the church, 41 Ark Road, off of Solomons Island Road in Lothian.

Planned events include a parade, awards and dove release.

Other honorees from the community include Sgt. Larry Titus of the Maryland State Police, and some outstanding students from local schools. A posthumous award will also be given to the late Del. Howard P. Rawlings, who died last fall.
