10 Terps score in 14-7 win that raises record to 4-0

Ten different Terps scored as the second-ranked Maryland men's lacrosse team defeated Bucknell, 14-7, yesterday at the Lacrosse & Field Hockey Complex in College Park.

The Terps (4-0) raced to a 4-0 lead just 7:16 into the first quarter before Ian Healy, Dave Matz and Justin Smith all scored in a span of 1:58 in the second quarter for a commanding 7-1 lead.

The Terps entered the fourth quarter with a 10-3 advantage when Brendan Healy registered back-to-back goals for his first career hat trick. Walters followed with his third goal of the day for a 13-3 Maryland lead.

The Terps' won 14 of 24 face-offs and outshot the Bison 48-25.

Washington College 11, Skidmore 4: Junior attackman Jon Spivey scored three goals and recorded five assists as the Shoremen (6-0) defeated the visiting Thoroughbreds (1-2).

Trinity 9, Goucher 8: Jake Dorey scored the game-winning goal with 1:16 left to play to lift the Bantams (2-0) over the Gophers (3-3).

Trinity closed to 8-7 on an unassisted goal by Kurt Kahn midway through the fourth period before pulling even at 8 on James Skiff's goal with 3:51 left to play.

National men

No. 8 Georgetown 10, Delaware 5: The Hoyas (3-1) outshot the Blue Hens (5-2) by 47-18 en route to their third straight win in a nonconference game.

State women

Salisbury 13, Marymount 3: The Seagulls (4-1, 2-0 Capital Athletic Conference) scored five goals in the game's first seven minutes in routing the Saints (0-4, 0-1).

Lynsey Bateman led Salisbury with four goals, and Linda Ackermann added three.

Johns Hopkins 13, George Mason 11: Mary Key and Heidi Pearce scored four goals each to lead the Blue Jays (6-0) past the visiting Patriots (0-2).

McDaniel 9, Greensboro 7: Sara Thomas had three goals and Kristen Ramey added two as the Green Terror (2-1) defeated the Pride (2-1).

Towson 11, UMBC 10: Shannon Witzel scored six goals to lift the Tigers (5-1). Kelly Fahey had three goals for the Retrievers (0-5).
