Anna L. Peddicord, 84, Howard schools secretary

Anna L. Peddicord, a retired secretary who had worked for Howard County public schools, died of Alzheimer's disease Monday at Fernbrook Manor, an Odenton assisted-living center. The former longtime Ellicott City resident was 84.

Born Anna Lorraine Seward in Woodstock, she was a 1937 graduate of Ellicott City High School. She was married in 1940 to George E. Peddicord, a retired Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. supervisor who died in 1978.

For 20 years until retiring in 1978, Mrs. Peddicord was a secretary to Omar J. Jones, who was principal of Howard High School.

Mrs. Peddicord, an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed making clothes for her grandchildren. She was also an avid tenpin bowler and world traveler.

She was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ellicott City.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Hubbard Funeral Home, 4107 Wilkens Ave.

Mrs. Peddicord is survived by a son, Gary E. Peddicord of Elkridge; two daughters, Lorraine R. Tabler of Ellicott City and Carol A. Biddinger of Marysville, Ohio; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
