For kids' sake, an Anne Arundel pier

OUTDOORS

Those wily fly rod masters Wayne Grauer, Tom Cooney and Walt Knapp will be teaching another class from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 27 at Gunpowder Falls State Park headquarters at Jerusalem Mills.

These guys are nice, funny and have forgotten more than most folks know.

"We say it ends at 2, but most of the time, we're there until 3:30 or 4," Grauer says.

Bring a rod if you can. Otherwise, Grauer says they'll have some gear to lend.

Farther south, the Freestate Fly Fishers will be conducting a basic fly-fishing class March 28 at 1 p.m. at the Davidsonville Family Recreation Center in that Anne Arundel County community.

The class will cover equipment, flies and entomology before moving on to hands-on fly-casting instruction. The cost is $20, which includes a club membership.

If you have your own fly-fishing rod and reel, by all means bring it with you. Fly rods will be available for casting. There is no advance registration. For information call Bob Smith, 410-544-4411, or Mike Price, 410-320-0080.
