Shamrock 5K

Dust off your kilt Sunday for the 180s Shamrock 5K Run.

This year's footrace will feature a brigade of runners who'll be decked out in traditional Irish men's wear.

The run, which begins at the Washington Monument, is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Registration is $27 in advance and $35 on race day.

Same-day packet pickup will take place 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. at the 180s Performance Lab in the Columbus Center at 701 E. Pratt St. The race will begin in the 500 block of N. Charles St., south of Franklin Street. For more race information, call 410-377-8882 or visit

Parade of green

After the race, celebrate all things Irish at Baltimore's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Mary Fran Swan is the grand marshal for the Sunday procession, which will feature an array of floats, bands, civic groups and dance troupes.

The festivities are scheduled to begin around 2 p.m.

The parade begins at the Washington Monument, goes south on Charles Street to Pratt, turns east and ends at Pratt and Market streets. For more information, call 877-BALTIMORE or visit

Taste of the vineyard

Enjoy traditional brews and music this weekend and next at Berrywine Plantations' Irish Saints and Medieval Mead events.

While touring the grounds of the Mount Airy vineyard, visitors can sample a selection of honey wines or taste a few of the purveyor's regular vintages.

A harpist will provide live music on both Saturdays.

Event hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. both Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. both Sundays.

New leash on life

The Dog Owners' Training Club of Maryland presents its yearly showcase Sunday.

The club's 67th annual dog obedience trial will take place in the main exhibition building of the Howard County fairgrounds.

Admission is $2 for adults for the program, which runs from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
