SpringFest Business Fair set for Saturday

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual SpringFest Business Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at TownMall of Westminster.

More than 70 exhibitors will represent countywide banking services, retail, energy, education, nonprofits and more.

Entertainment will be offered on three stages through the day, including the Westminster Municipal Band, Roger Lindsay's magic, Hotdog the Clown, Merritt Dance Academy, aerobics and karate demonstrations, an 18th-century fashion show and a Civil War dance.

Keyote, the Frederick Keys mascot; McGruff, the Crime Dog; the Chick-Fil-A cow; and Westminster-area middle school cheerleaders will parade around the mall. A moon bounce also will be available.

The Harlem Wizards will entertain in the afternoon before their annual game at McDaniel College.

A children's drawing will be held for a $100 gift certificate to the mall.

Annual food drive to run March 13-20

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage is joining with the U.S. Postal Service, Boy Scouts and Safeway food stores to collect food for the needy.

Sales offices will be collecting canned goods and other nonperishable food items March 13-20 for the annual Harvest for the Hungry Food Drive.

Food will be given to local food banks.

Carroll County Coldwell Banker offices are in Eldersburg, Hampstead, Mount Airy and Westminster.

Culinary arts students assist Fairhaven staff

Fairhaven, a retirement community in Sykesville, recently welcomed four students from the culinary arts program at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center for a day of job shadowing.

The students watched the kitchen staff in action and helped Fairhaven chefs prepare food for Valentine's Day.

Fairhaven's Scott Robertson and Jason Hahn helped the students make lunch.

Bill Hill, career connections coordinator, and Tim Norwood, culinary teacher, helped set up the program.

Myers, Tegeler welcomed into Allianz Life Gold Club

Brenda Myers and Harvey Tegeler, owners of Interstate Financial Services Inc., were recently awarded membership to Allianz Life Insurance Company's Gold Club for 2003.

This is the third year of qualifying for this level. Only the top of Allianz Life's 150,000 licensed brokers qualify for this honor.

Sykesville resident hired to direct sales for S&K

S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows Inc. of Sykesville has hired Charlie McCurry to the newly created position of director of sales.

He has 20 years' experience in sales management and operational experience with companies such as Ecolab and Coca-Cola. He lives in Sykesville.

McCurry's responsibilities will include management of S&K's five-person sales team, reviewing and developing sales and management procedures, managing the company's sales and marketing efforts, and ensuring the quality of client projects.

The director of sales position was created in response to the company's growth over the past several years.
