Earnings reports: Imax Corp., Kindred Healthcare


Earnings reports: Albertson's, Kroger, AnnTaylor, Net2Phone


Balance of trade report for January will be watched for trends. The report for December showed a $42.5 billion improvement in the deficit.

Wholesale trade report for January includes sales and inventory statistics from the second stage of the manufacturing process. The sales figures say close to nothing about personal consumption and, therefore, do not move the market.

Department of Labor's initial unemployment claims report measures the number of filings for state jobless benefits.

Department of Commerce retail sales report is the most timely indicator of broad consumer spending patterns

Earnings reports: Claire's Stores, EchoStar, El Paso, Elizabeth Arden, ShopKo Stores, Urban Outfitters, National Semi, Borders Group


Michigan Index of Consumer Sentiment issues its preliminary reading for March. It has two subindexes - expectations and current conditions. The final February index fell 9.4 points to 94.4.

February Producer Price Index measures prices of goods at the wholesale level.
