On Friday, March 5, 2004; KENNETH B., husband of the late Bertha M. Mertel; brother-in-law of Vaughn R. Shinaberry. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews and members of the Ensey family. Friends may call on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A., 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday 12 noon. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to the American Heart Association.27, 2004, LORETTA MARIE SCHMISEK MYERS, 64, of Roanoke and formerly of Catonsville, MD, passed away peacefully at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Loretta was born on January 5, 1940 in Grand Forks, ND as the oldest child of the late John M. and Loretta M. Lacey Schmisek. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert K. Myers of Roanoke, VA; four daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta K. (Bobbie K.) and William F. Stephen, Jr. of Catonsville, MD, Kelly N. Myers-Valenstein and H. Keith Valenstein of Catonsville, MD, Kristin R. and Timothy G. Permenter of Anchorage, AK, and Carol L. and Michael S. Wheeler of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren, Emily L. and Andrew M. Wheeler; two step-grandchildren, Nicholaus and Ashley Valenstein of Elkridge, MD; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Maureen G. and Kenneth D. Schultz of Northridge, CA, Nancy R. and Clarence Tupa of Miles City, MT, Margaret (Peggy) and Daniel P. Buckmeier of Bismark, ND; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John M., Jr., and Wanda Schmisek of Grand Forks, ND, William F. and Gail Schmisek of Grand Forks, ND, Gerald W. and Daniel Schmisek of Fountain, CO; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Mary K. Myers Mc Cracken of Catonsville, MD; brother-in-law and wife W. Kenneth and Susan Myers of Catonsville, MD; and a special sister Margie Jones of Pasadena, MD. Loretta graduated from St. James High School in Grand Forks, ND in 1958 and St. Michaels School of Nursing in Grand Forks, ND in 1961. She retired as a Registered Nurse from Bon Secors Hospital in Baltimore, MD in 1995 after more than 29 years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of the Nazareth Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Loretta's name be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 554, Roanoke, VA 24003-0554 or American Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680 N. Canton, OH 44720. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at Our Lady of the Nazareth Catholic Church Roanoke, VA with Rev. Msgr. Joseph P. Lehman officiating. Local arrangements are being handled by Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA (540-366-0707)
