Abingdon woman, 28, is charged in mother's killing

A 28-year-old woman was being held yesterday in the Harford County Detention Center on murder charges after police found her mother's body inside a closet in the Abingdon apartment the two women shared, a sheriff's office spokesman said.

Susan Audrey Hooker of the 500 block of Ramblewood Court was arrested early yesterday morning and charged with first- and second-degree murder in the death of Frances Linda Moxley, 54, said spokesman Edward Hopkins.

The two women apparently quarreled over Hooker's boyfriend late last month and Hooker is accused of smothering Moxley, Hopkins said.

Hooker's boyfriend, David James Getz, 33, of Baltimore, who sometimes stays at the apartment, called police, who arrived about 3:45 a.m. yesterday to find the odor of the decomposing body in the apartment, Hopkins said. He said Getz is not charged in the incident.
