Continue celebrating black history into March with a lecture from Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison, 8 p.m. Wednesday in Shriver Hall Auditorium at the Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles St..

Morrison's appearance will celebrate the creation of the university's Center for Africana Studies in fall 2003 and is open to the public. Admission is free, but reservations are required. Call 866-628-9892.


Celtic ensemble Eire Japan combines the music of uilleann piper Paddy Keenan, fiddler Frankie Gavin and Japanese guitarist Junji Shirota. Their acclaimed act presents Irish music, bluegrass and jazz that boasts a "miraculous" show.

The group will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at Creative Alliance at the Patterson, 3134 Eastern Ave., with Celtic musical trio Dogs Among the Bushes, featuring Charlie MacVicar on uilleann pipes, C. B. Heinemann on guitar and bouzouki and Bob Young on Bass.
