MIAMI — One man dead, two safe after pleasure boat sinks

MIAMI - One man died and two others survived after a 20-foot pleasure boat they were on sank in Biscayne Bay, the Coast Guard said yesterday.

The boat was anchored Saturday night when it started sinking, and the three men abandoned the vessel, according to a Coast Guard news release.

Earl White Sr., 65, apparently drowned. Alberto de la Torrez managed to swim to a nearby island, and Lester Vasquez was rescued from the water by a Coast Guard auxiliary vessel, according to the release. The cause of the sinking was being investigated.
