SILVER SPRING -- A 54-year-old Silver Spring man died early yesterday when his motorcycle struck a curb, propelling him off the bike, Montgomery County police said.

The victim, John Thomas Oakley, was riding with another biker entering a curve on eastbound Forest Glen Road after midnight when his 1994 Harley-Davidson left the road and hit the curb, police said.

Oakley was thrown from the bike. Authorities did not say whether he was wearing a helmet. The accident remained under investigation, police said.
