ASTROS: Signed OF Ryan Thompson (Chestertown) to minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

BREWERS: Agreed with P Matt Kinney and P Nick Neugebauer on one-year contracts.

YANKEES: Announced resignation of player development instructor Darryl Strawberry.

NBA: Fined SuperSonics G Ray Allen $10,000 for criticizing officials in Feb. 20 game.

BUCKS: Placed G T.J. Ford on injured list.

CALIFORNIA IRVINE: Suspended sophomore F Mike Efevberha indefinitely from men's basketball team for violating team and department rules.

LIGHTNING: Acquired D Timo Helbling from Predators for 2004 eighth-round entry draft pick.

RANGERS: Announced resignation of coach Glen Sather, who will remain as president and general manager. Named Tom Renney interim coach.

THRASHERS: Claimed F Brad Larsen off waivers from Avalanche.

WILD: Acquired a fourth-round draft pick from Avalanche for C Darby Hendrickson and an eighth-round pick.
